Shells N Rocks, Coolangatta, Qld
08 October 2024Across from the beautiful Coolangatta Beach, on the restaurant strip, is the unassuming Shells N Rocks, a place with the nostalgic feel of the 1970s, complete with colourful tablecloths and plastic plants. We were the only diners and felt a little apprehensive about our choice.
However, as soon as we were seated, we were greeted by a wonderful young waitress who was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome and relaxed.
We ordered the Clam Chowder as a starter to share. It had a thick texture and a delicious taste, accompanied by hot bread rolls. It was a fantastic start, making us look forward to the mains. We ordered the rib-eye steak and the lamb masala, both of which did not disappoint.
The steak was cooked to perfection—soft, juicy, and served with vegetables and a large bowl of sauce. The lamb was an amazing combination of Indian flavours, served on potato instead of rice—a genius idea that worked perfectly and tasted incredible.
The price was very reasonable for the quality of food, and if this restaurant were located a few kilometres up the road in Broadbeach or Surfers Paradise, you'd likely pay double.
Unfortunately, we live a couple of hours away; otherwise, this would be a regular stop for us. The next time we’re in the area, we will definitely visit again. 5 out of 5 stars.
